Hello, friends!

I'm on vacation this week, so I'm keeping today's newsletter short and simple.

I hope you enjoy this abridged edition of "3 Ideas to Share & Save"!

β€” 1 β€”

The Debt Debacle: My most recent podcast guest, Andy Hill, famously paid off $50k in debt in a year. So I asked him to describe a concept I often hear bandied about β€” "good debt."

His response was insightful and surprising:

Two for Two: I'm constantly seeking inspiration both inside and outside the financial world to share ideas with you each week. So here, in Idea #2, I want to highlight two outside resources that have inspired me. I hope they will bring some joy to you too.

The first is the How I Write Podcast created by one of my writing teachers, David Perell. You might begin with a guest we've both interviewed, author Kevin Kelly. And in case you missed it, here's my interview with Kevin.

Another font of consistent inspiration is Ryan Holiday, author of The Daily Stoic. I've reviewed selections from this book almost every day since 2016, and I look forward to perusing "Ryan's Reading List" each month.

(Ryan lives the idea that a good writer is a good reader, as he's beyond prolific in both domains. Frankly, I have no idea how he covers so much literary ground while managing to write about a book a year. 🀯)

I always discover one β€” if not several β€” book recommendations per newsletter. For instance, I couldn't put down Helena Merriman's Tunnel 29 about a harrowing escape beneath the Berlin Wall. And Walter Lord's A Night to Remember is not only beautifully written but also provides much insight (and surprise) about a disaster familiar to us all, the sinking of the Titanic.

Incidentally, Ryan also recently appeared on the How I Write Podcast.

Weekly Wisdom: I'll leave you with a lovely definition of success I often share with parents during my Art of Allowance Academy classes.

"When we believe in our dreams and have the support to achieve those dreams, while feeling pretty good about ourselves."
β€”Esther Wojcicki

Have a great rest of your week, and don't forget to enjoy the journey!
